Conversational Sunroom
Serene, Social, Swivel
Although our clients built this home and had lived in it for over a decade, they couldn't quite get this space to feel right. The built-in bench they added to the back of the kitchen island was never used and the sunroom felt a little empty and awkward.
They wanted a more functional space to foster interactions with the cooks in the kitchen, make the built-in bench seat useful, and to comfortably play games or read a book. We decided on this conversational design with ample lighting.
We brought in the rug they loved from their old living room and added velvet swivel chairs so everyone can face the kitchen to chat up the chef. The 2 bistro tables we installed at the built-in kitchen bench feel right at home with their mosaic tile tops that mimic the fireplace surround.
With this sunroom open to the rest of the home, we selected colors and furniture styles that complimented the other spaces. (Check out the lovely living room we also designed in this home.)
Now, this inviting, cozy space is being used more than ever!
